The best Kri Kri ibex hunting!

The purest Kri Kri's are said to inhabit Sapientza Island, where they live.

The kri-kri (Capra aegagrus cretica), also known as the Cretan goat, Agrimi, or Cretan Ibex, a feral goat residing in the eastern Mediterranean, is not a diminished form of the Bezoar Ibex, which has invaded the westernmost regions of its range. The kri-kri, a goat indigenous to the Eastern Mediterranean, was previously regarded as a subspecies of wild goats. Its coat is light brown with a darker band around its neck. Two sweeping horns sprout from its head. During the day, they stay hidden in the wild in order to avoid tourists. They may leap or scale seemingly sheer cliffs. The kri-kri is presumed to have been imported to Crete during the Minoan era, rather than having evolved there. It is the sole species endemic to the island. The kri-kri is seldom seen outside of Crete, although it is widespread in the Aegean. Its last strongholds are on Western Crete’s White Mountains, particularly the 3,000-foot (900-m) cliffs known as ‘the Untrodden,’ near the head of the Samaria Gorge. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve protects the Samaria National Forest and the White Mountains, which are home to an additional 14 native species. Dia, Thodorou, and Agii Pandes are among the islets it inhabits.

Hunting dates

Hunting dates – Hunting the Sapientza Island kri kri ibex and mouflon is restricted to November. Five hunting days are provided Monday through Thursday, with an additional day on Friday if weather is bad.

How to hunt

There is no other form of hunting on the island besides spot and stalk hunting. The bush is too thick, making craw and stalk hunting equally difficult.

Arnmament

The only shotguns allowed for hunting in Greece are smoothbores firing bullets or slugs. Optical enhancements made of fibro-optic material are added to iron sights to help make shots at 100 metres a little bit easier. You must have an EU weapon passport to import your own shotgun. We offer a dozen different weapons for hunting. Prior to a hunt, you must shoot at the shooting range to select your weapon and preferred range.

Shooting

There are no two identical cases in terms of shot distance. The hunt can be quite exciting and challenging, ranging from two meters to one hundred plus. During the rut season, males are willing to battle and stink up the place. The animals are also drawn to the paths, making hunting difficult and unpredictable. We may be able to detect animals before they appear if we plan carefully. During our walk on the island, we discovered that the bush was impassable in many locations and the game paths wound in all directions and crossed each other. Hunting is particularly difficult and unpredictable as a result. We were able to get as close as two metres from an ibex as it crossed a path. If an ibex likes to climb a rocky cliff, we may flush one out by making a lot of noise, breaking branches, and walking and stalking near it. It may flush out a male ibex if it is near enough to jump on it. During the mating season, ibexes are extremely aggressive and eager to fight, and we can take advantage of this.

Lucky hunter

Hunting on the island is difficult, and walking through the high moisture and bright sun is not for everyone. Hunters usually refrain from shooting at mouflon before killing an ibex, since they believe that doing so will scare away other animals and keep them away. When they finally shoot an ibex but miss their shot at a mouflon, lady luck looks the other way.

Accomodation

Each hunter has his or her own villa, which includes 100 GB internet, AI home assistance, air conditioning, 4K TVs, and other at-home amenities. In addition to Greek cuisine and seafood fresh from the sea, you may cache your own food to create the most memorable moments during this adventure.
